We are recruiting for an experienced Partnership Manager to join one of London’s leading Universities. If you have previous experience gained in a similar post within a Higher Education institute, we’d love to hear from you!

 

THE ROLE

Partnership Development & Management

  • Proactively and independently, develop and manage, the portfolio of existing and potential partnerships for the department – especially the department’s institutional and strategic partnerships – by driving and monitoring progress.
  • In consultation with the academic community, planning and implementing strategies for effectively managing and developing partnerships, including cultivating key internal and external relationships – strategically planning and being responsible for delivering the Provost’s inputs into partnership activities, including out and inward visits and coordination of business cases and briefings – building relationships with senior academics to secure their buy-in – planning and reporting on activity in the relevant region; advising on key risks and opportunities and implementing mitigating actions.
  • Be responsible for developing, monitoring and reporting on the institutional and strategic partnerships. This will include: – marshalling cross-institutional input up to and including the Provost – providing detailed analysis of risks and opportunities and implementing mitigating actions – ensuring funding is in place for agreed activity – managing committees of senior colleagues – delivering effective internal and external communications about institutional and strategic partnerships.
  • Ensure that regional partnership activity at all levels is appropriately governed, by effectively deploying for both new and existing partnerships, the robust due diligence and risk management framework. This includes close liaison with Academic and Legal Services among others.

Regional Expertise & Support

  • Develop and deepen geographical expertise by working closely with the existing relevant centres of geographical expertise and professional services colleagues. This will include being responsible for actively gathering and mapping the range of partnership activity in this region – by overseeing the collation and timely input of accurate regional data into the database and customer relationship management.
  • Through leading, and active participation in meetings, forums, workshops etc., be a well-known and respected source of regional knowledge and expertise for the academic community; actively promote to Schools and Faculties the services that the department can offer, as well as their involvement in institutional and strategic partnerships.
  • Maintain up-to-date research on the political, social, economic and educational contexts, building the required senior relationships in relevant embassies and other organisations in order to carry this out effectively.
  • Manage the relevant Regional Network(s).

Representing the University

  • Represent the University to external partners by ensuring that well-timed key meetings take place and are followed up on.
  • Manage and actively take part in visits by senior stakeholders, managing effective lines of two-way communication with relevant colleagues
  • Represent the department by regularly and proactively communicating and meeting regularly with key colleagues.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Broad knowledge of issues relating to internationalisation of and in the Higher Education sector
  • Significant experience of proactively and independently developing and implementing effective global higher education partnerships
  • Demonstrable experience of, and ability to, influence senior management to achieve business objectives
  • Experience of managing due diligence and risk management in global partnerships development
  • Experience of contributing to the outcomes of a high-performing team
  • Experience of supervising support staff on projects
  • Proven experience of managing complex projects autonomously, including high profile and high level international out and inward visits
  • Experience of living and working or substantial travel outside the UK (desirable)
